Obituary for George B. Fulford

George B. Fulford, age 76 of La Crosse, Wisconsin passed away at his home on Saturday, November 3, 2018. He was born on February 10, 1942 in Fargo, North Dakota, to George and Delia (Walford) Fulford. George served in the U.S. Army from 1962 until 1965. He was joined in marriage to Joyce Entringer on May 27, 1967 in Fargo.
George graduated from North Dakota State University in Fargo, then went on to teach photography and communications at St. Cloud State University. He then furthered his education at Cuyahoga Community College in association with the Cleveland Clinic and received his degree as a Physician’s assistant; having become the first P.A. in La Crosse, Wisconsin, all the while working with Dr. David Morris at Allergy Associates for 38 years.
Following retirement, George so enjoyed spending free time volunteering at the Kane Street community gardens in lower northside of La Crosse. He also enjoyed gardening at home, his favorite variety being his day lilies. Retirement also afforded George and Joyce the opportunity to pursue Road Scholar educational travel and spending several months in Florida, near Punta Gorda.
George is survived by his wife, Joyce; sons, Gregory Fulford of Minneapolis and Grant Fulford of Waterloo, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son who died in infancy, Brett.
A memorial visitation will be held at Dickinson Family Funeral Home, 1425 Jackson Street, La Crosse on Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Kane Street Community Gardens, operated by the Hunger Task Force of La Crosse.
